Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in a Level 1 trauma center. The role requires an ND or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIHSS and vasopressor titration experience, with EPIC EMR proficiency.

You will work 12-hour shifts in a 16-bed Neuro ICU (Unit 5A), with a 1:2-3 patient load and float coverage to related units as needed. Prior Sanford Health affiliation may affect eligibility; housing and travel support are provided.

Qualifications

• Active ND or compact state RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a Level 1 trauma hospital
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients and other neuro critically ill patients
• Ability to titrate vasopressor drips per protocol
• Experience managing sedatives, analgesics, inotropes, antiarrhythmics
• Ability to assist with RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, and line placement
• Neuro ICU experience within last 2 years preferred
• Independently manage 1–3 critically ill patients

Responsibilities

• Care for Level 1 trauma neuro ICU patients in a 16-bed unit (Unit 5A)
• Maintain 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for neuro, surgery, trauma, medical and surgical patients with focus on stroke
• Operate EPIC EMR, Omnicell, Alaris pumps, MOOG pumps, EVD, Philips monitoring, AvaSure
• Work 12-hour day/night shifts with every other weekend and rotating holidays
• Float to 5D ICU, Broadway ICU, and med-surg units as needed
• Manage diverse critical care patient population
• Assist with advanced bedside procedures and diagnostics
• Receive 32 hours orientation in first week
• Badge in/out required; Navy blue scrubs
• Travel eligibility: within 60 miles not eligible; 60–80 miles may be reduced local travel rate
• Prior Sanford Health employment requires 6-month separation

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience within a 200+ bed, Level 1 trauma hospital required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience caring for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients and other critically ill neuro patients required
• Required experience titrating vasopressor drips, must be reflected on resume or skills checklist
• Experience managing sedatives, analgesics, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips
• Ability to assist with bedside procedures such as RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, and line placement
• Previous Neuro ICU experience within the past 2 years highly preferred
• Ability to independently manage 1-3 critically ill patients

Responsibilities

• Level 1 trauma acute care hospital setting in the Neuro ICU (Unit 5A)
• 16-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Cares for critically ill neuro, surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical patients, with a primary focus on ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients
• Uses EPIC EMR, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Alaris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, EVD, Philips Patient Monitoring Systems, and AvaSure patient monitoring
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• Floating required to other critical care units including 5D Intermediate ICU (up to 4:1 ratio) and Broadway ICU (up to 3:1 ratio), and med surg units as needed
• Manage a varied critical care patient population including neuro, surgical, trauma, and medical cases
• Assist with advanced bedside procedures and diagnostic testing
• Receive 32 hours of orientation during the first week, including hospital, unit, and float unit training
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Candidates living 60 to 80 miles from the facility may be considered at a reduced local travel rate
• Previous Sanford Health employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
