Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position in California. The role requires active CA RN license, BLS, NRP, NIHSS, at least 2 years of Level III NICU experience, and the ability to read cardiac/respiratory strips.

Shifts are 12 hours (0645-1915 or 0645-0715) with every other weekend. Cerner EMR is used; travel-friendly accommodation and 24/7 support are available. First-time travelers may be considered.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Level III or above NICU experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac/respiratory strips
• Experience titrating medication drips required

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU with 20 beds in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and ventilated infants (no ECMO patients)
• Typical patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2
• Charge nurse does not typically take patients
• 12-hour day shifts (0645-1915 or 0645-0715), every other weekend required
• Uses Cerner EMR
• First to float among staff
• RT manages ventilators and is on-unit 24/7, neonatologist in house 24/7, pharmacy available 24/7
• 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation required
• Provide direct care to neonatal patients including feeders/growers and ventilated infants
• Titrate drips and interpret monitoring strips as part of patient care
• Expected to work into permanent staff holiday rotation
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers may be considered
