Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III Neonatal ICU position requiring 2+ years of NICU experience and NRP, BLS, and STABLE certifications. Night shift is 3x12 hour shifts (19:00–07:00) with every other weekend; no on-call duties.

Travelers must have LA or Compact license, and prior travel experience is required. RAMs, ventilators, central lines, and high-alert meds are part of daily care.

Qualifications

• Active LA RN license or Compact license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted).
• Required certifications: NRP, BLS, and STABLE.
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Experience with RAMs, ventilators, central lines, IV drips, and administration of high alert medications.
• Skilled in UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, and central line care.
• Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high flow nasal cannula, and oscillators.
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia and neonatal abstinence syndrome care.
• Experience attending high risk deliveries.
• Neonatal dosage calculation proficiency required.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Level III Neonatal Critical Care Unit setting.
• Patient population includes neonates from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation.
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Epic charting system used.
• Care for neonates in a Level III NICU including high acuity cases and high risk deliveries.
• Responsibilities include APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching.
• Administer emergency medications, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and IV vasopressors.
• Perform phlebotomy and manage feedings including bottle, breast, and gavage methods.
• Teal scrubs required.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
• Locals residing within 75 miles are accepted at the local rate.
• Previous permanent staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments.
