American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Level III/IV NICU travel assignment in Texas. Requires TX or compact RN license, BLS, and 2+ years NICU experience with Epic EMR proficiency.

Shift patterns are 3x12 hours (19:00–07:00) with 1:2-4 nurse-to-patient ratios. Extensive benefits and travel allowances are offered; candidates must commit to holiday coverage and be willing to float between units as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Level IV NICU within a Children's Hospital.
• Care for neonates from <24–28 weeks to >34 weeks gestation.
• Patient ratios 1:2-4.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:00.
• Weekend: 6 shifts in 6 weeks via self scheduling.
• Block scheduling required.
• Floating between units and sister facilities; 48-hour weeks.
• No on-call requirements.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 2+ years of NICU experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• BLS certification required
• NRP Advanced certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial lines, central lines, UAC/UVC required
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide required
• Experience with neonatal emergency medications, vasopressors, and dosage calculations required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within a Children's Hospital
• Cares for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
• Patient ratios of 1:2-4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6 week period via self-scheduling
• Block scheduling required
• 48-hour work weeks approvedFloating required between units and sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill neonates including respiratory, cardiovascular, GI, and neurologic support
• Perform skills such as therapeutic hypothermia, lumbar puncture assistance, and ICP monitoring
• Support developmental care, breastfeeding, and patient/family education
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces with bike racks on site
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for standard travel rate
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
