Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position in California. Requires CA RN license and a minimum of 1 year NICU experience; 2 years preferred. BLS and NRP certifications are required; STABLE preferred.

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (1800–0600) with 1:2 patient ratio. Floating between sister facilities and travel-related provisions apply. The role expects attendance at high-risk deliveries, GI care, breastfeeding support, IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, and respiratory care

Qualifications

• Requires active California RN license.
• Minimum 1 year NICU experience; 2 years preferred.
• BLS and NRP certifications required; STABLE preferred.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with eat, sleep, console preferred.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year in last 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neonatal ICU (NICU Level II) of a hospital setting.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 1800 to 0600.
• Care for neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation; 1:2 ratio.
• Attend high-risk deliveries.
• Provide GI care and breastfeeding support; handle breast milk.
• Perform IV therapy and manage UAC/UVC.
• Provide respiratory care including ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP).
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Floating between sister facilities.
• Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, NYD.
• All RTO and scheduling requests submitted upfront.
• Residents within 50-mile radius; local candidates accepted at lower bill rate.
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after 3-month waiting period.
• Disclose prior Providence facility history.

• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required; 2 years preferred
• BLS and NRP certifications required; STABLE certification preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with eat, sleep, console approach preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neonatal ICU (NICU Level II) of a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 1800 to 0600
• Patient population includes neonates 29-34 weeks and neonates greater than 34 weeks gestation
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2
• Attends high-risk deliveries
• Provides gastrointestinal care and breastfeeding support/handling of breast milk
• Performs IV therapy and manages UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) and UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter)
• Provides respiratory care including ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Floating required between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius, though local candidates are accepted at a lower bill rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility, including as permanent staff, travel contractor, or per-diem/registry
