Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a night shift position in Louisiana. Requires a compact or LA license, Epic charting proficiency, and 2 years NICU experience. BLS, NRP, CPI and AHA certifications are required.

Candidate must have a current NURSYS report, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to work 3x12 hour nights plus every other weekend. Travel-friendly benefits and housing allowances are available.

Qualifications

• 2 years NICU specialty experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Current NURSYS report within 4 weeks of submission.

Responsibilities

• NICU and Newborn Nursery combined unit.
• Average daily census of 10 patients.
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15).
• Every other weekend required (2-4 shifts per 4 week schedule).
• Occasional floating to postpartum/peds units.
• Attends high risk deliveries and handles newborn diagnoses for NICU/Wellbaby.
• May be assigned to Emergency Team during emergencies.
• Care for neonates from under 24-28 weeks to >34 weeks gestation.

Requirements

• Active compact or LA RN license required in hand upon consideration
• BLS, NRP, and CPI certifications required
• AHA certifications required
• 2 years of NICU specialty experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Current NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Skills in IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
• Experience with phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and various feeding methods (bottle, breast, gavage)

Responsibilities

• NICU and Newborn Nursery combined unit
• Average daily census of 10 patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend required (2-4 shifts per 4 week schedule)
• Occasional floating to postpartum/peds units
• Attends high risk deliveries, conducts car seat testing, and handles newborn diagnoses for NICU and Wellbaby
• No call-in required
• Care for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended facility presence during emergency events
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Orientation held 5 days a week
• 2 Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
• RTO must be documented on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescission
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for 1 full year before returning as travel staff
