Responsibilities

NICU with ~190 births per month at a community acute care hospital
Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 PM-6:30 AM)
Patient ratio 1:2-3
May float to Mother/Baby for couplet care or for babies only
No on-call requirements
Weekend coverage every other weekend
Use Epic for charting and documentation
Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory support and line management
Manage high-risk deliveries and complex neonatal conditions
Travelers may float between sister facilities within the health system
Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays
First-time travelers not accepted; prior staff must reside outside 50-mile radius for rehire

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for night shift with at least 2 years of NICU experience and a valid CA RN license required.

Requirements

Active CA RN license (Compact license accepted, must be in hand at submission)
Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP preferred, or willingness to obtain before start)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in NICU specialty required
Candidates with Level IV NICU experience may be considered with less than 2 years overall RN experience
Community hospital experience required
Prior travel experience required unless candidate has 2+ years of NICU experience
Experience with high-risk deliveries, ventilator management, UAC/UVC lines, and neonatal medication administration
Skilled in care for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission requests may not be accommodated
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
