Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night-shift travel assignment. Requires recent NICU experience and BLS/NRP certifications.

The role covers a Level III NICU with 42 beds, nursing neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, with varied acuity. Night shifts run 7PM–7AM for 13 weeks, with 5 weekends worked. Housing and travel reimbursements are provided as part of benefits.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required.
• Skilled in safe medication administration and calculation per the 5 patient rights.
• Experience with NG/OG tubes, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU unit within a 42-bed department.
• Care for neonates 22 weeks gestation and above, including preterm and surgical patients.
• Patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 depending on acuity for Level 3; 3:1 for Level 2.
• Operate radiant warmers, isolettes, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, and related devices.
• EMR systems used are CPN and Meditech.
• Night shift 7PM-7AM for 13 weeks; five weekends worked.
• Floating to Mother Baby unit, limited to managing babies.
• Assist with intubations, UAC/UVC placement, eye exams, imaging, labs, PICC, circumcisions.

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring recent NICU experience and NRP/BLS certification.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
• Skilled in safe medication administration and calculation, including EBM handling using the 5 patient rights
• Experience caring for patients with NG/OG tubes, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula
• Experience caring for patients with PIVs, PICCs, and UAC/UVC lines
• Proficient in lab draws and NAS scoring
• Knowledgeable in escalating patient concerns and demonstrating developmentally appropriate care for preterm infants
• Experience with ETT, ventilators, JETs, cooling therapy, and surgical patients preferred
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

• Patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 depending on acuity for Level 3, and 3:1 for Level 2
• Uses radiant warmers, isolettes, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, oscillators, JETs, CPAP, NIPPV, high flow nasal cannula, EKG monitors, and breast milk warmers
• EMR systems used are CPN and Meditech
• Night shift schedule from 7PM-7AM over a 13-week assignment
• Night shift staff work 5 weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) during the assignment
• Floating required to Mother Baby unit, limited to managing babies only
• Provide comprehensive NICU care including assisting with intubations, UAC/UVC placement, eye exams, X-rays, ultrasounds, EEG, EKG, lumbar punctures, lab draws, PICC placement, circumcisions, and bedside surgical procedures
• Promotes safe sleeping practices for infants at 32-34 weeks gestation
• Works within a team-oriented culture and is open to receiving feedback
• Royal Blue scrub color required
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
