Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU assignment in California. An active CA RN license and NRP/ BLS certifications are required, with at least 1 year NICU experience and prior travel nursing background.

Role includes night shifts (3x12s, 19:00–07:30) with no on-call duties and weekend requirements. EMR proficiency and current supervisor references are needed for consideration.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Experience with an EMR/charting system required.
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Level III NICU setting caring for surgical and premature neonates from 23 weeks gestation and up.
• Provides care including cooling therapy, all respiratory modes, PICC lines, bronchoscopy, LISA, VCUG, MRI, swallow studies, and line insertion.
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3.
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Every other weekend required.
• Float to peds, PICU, and nursery units as needed.
• Care for a complex neonatal population including cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, infectious disease, neurologic, and respiratory conditions.
• Manage arterial lines, central/implanted lines, UAC, and UVC.
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids.
• Manage ventilator settings across multiple modes (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP).
• Local candidates accepted at the local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract.
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
• Returning staff/travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying.
