Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother Baby/L&D assignment in Washington, requiring LDRP experience and a WA or compact RN license. This role involves circulating in C-sections and attending deliveries independently in a high-volume unit.

You must have BLS and NRP, 2+ years RN experience, and be capable of working with EPIC EMR and Centricity-Perinatal for EFM; travel-friendly with housing allowance and licensure reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Acute care in a Birthing Center/Mother Baby unit with L&D and postpartum care.
• Unit features: 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, 14 postpartum beds.
• High-volume unit: ~170-190 births/month; follow staffing ratios.
• Titrate drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) and use EPIC/Centrix EMR.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother Baby/L&D position requiring LDRP experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• BLS and NRP certifications required, intermediate or advanced FHM preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• LDRP experience required
• Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
• Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
• Must be able to function in Postpartum with routine mom and baby competencies
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in a Birthing Center/Mother Baby unit combining L&D and Postpartum
• 13 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
• High volume unit averaging 170-190 births per month
• Follows AWHONN staffing ratios of 1:2 for L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets
• Patient population includes 32 weeks gestation and above, high risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, and psych/social cases
• RNs required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
• Uses EPIC EMR and Centricity-Perinatal for EFM
• 24/7 in-house OB/hospitalist, NNP in nursery, and OB anesthesia provider
• Surgical tech available 24/7 with additional patient care assistant support each shift
• Night shift schedule with every other weekend requirement (Friday and Saturday nights)
• Standby call may be required with a 45-minute response time
• Floating limited to Mother Baby and Postpartum within the same unit, no floating to NICU or outside the department
• Free-standing charge nurse on both shifts who does not take a patient assignment
• Scrubs and a locker are provided
• Holiday coverage rotates in alongside permanent staff
• Unit orientation includes an 8-hour compliance day, 8-hour EPIC class, and 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Unit manager provides ongoing feedback and expects adaptability to unit workflows and policies
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates who have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible
