Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Mother Baby/Nursery RN for a night shift assignment in Virginia. OB-experienced RNs with BLS/ACLS/NRP and AWHONN or NCCEFM are required, with strong Cesarean experience preferred.

Active VA/compact license and no major gaps in the past year are needed. Expect 7pm–7am shifts in a busy unit with 9 LDR beds, a nursery, and 2 ORs; travel housing and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Recent OB experience required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition), and AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced) or NCCEFM.
• Cesarean section experience (circulator, first assist, or scrub) preferred.
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Maternity Care Center on the 2 West OBGYN unit.
• Unit includes 9 LDR beds, 8 postpartum/GYN beds, 2 OR suites, and a 23-bed well-born nursery.
• Patient ratios: 3 mother-baby couplets per nurse; 1:1 for active labor, Pitocin, or epidural patients.
• Typical procedures include labor & delivery, cesarean sections, postpartum and newborn care, OB ED triage, and inductions.
• Uses Corometrics fetal monitoring equipment.
• EMR: Centricity Perinatal and Meditech.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Floating limited to within the unit only.
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (Saturday/Sunday days or Friday/Saturday nights).
• No on-call requirement, though extra shift opportunities may be available.
• Provide direct care to mother-baby couplets and newborns in a fast-paced maternity unit.
• Scrubs are provided by the facility.
• Best suited for energetic, self-directed nurses.
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Local candidates will not be considered.
• First-time travelers may be considered.
