Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Postpartum RN for a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care unit in a Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Seattle. 2 years of recent Postpartum/Mother-Baby experience and WA or compact RN licensure required. BLS and NRP certifications required.

Epic charting experience preferred. Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), 1:3 patient ratio, weekend rotation, and hospital-wide float within the campus. COVID vaccination is required.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Postpartum/Mother-Baby experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred
• Newborn care skills including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, feeds, phototherapy, meds
• Experience with magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, heparin infusions
• Postpartum care including cesarean/vaginal delivery, multiple births, PPH, PIH
• Breastfeeding support and use of breast pumps
• COVID vaccination and booster required

Responsibilities

• Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Postpartum unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Weekend rotation required unless otherwise posted
• Floating within the hospital required, no floating to sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide comprehensive care to mother-baby couplets including newborn assessments, feeding support, and postpartum recovery care
• Support patients with high-risk conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, low birth weight infants, and newborn hypoglycemia
• Work within a Level 1 Nursery setting supporting pain management and phlebotomy needs
• No on-call requirements for this position
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with no time off during first two weeks
• Local candidates accepted at same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as travel employee
• First-time travelers will not be considered

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Postpartum/Mother-Baby experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration
• Experience managing magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, and heparin infusions required
• Proficient in postpartum care including cesarean section, vaginal delivery, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Skilled in fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding instruction, and use of breast pumps
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
