Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby Center in Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of L&D and post-partum experience, and hold an active MN RN license.

BLS and NRP certifications are required, with preferred AWHONN certifications. Responsibilities include coverage of both Labor & Delivery and Post-Partum units in an acute teaching hospital, with a 3x12 shift pattern and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Active or pending MN RN license accepted.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience with post-partum experience.
• Fetal monitoring skills including external and internal monitoring.
• Experience administering Pitocin and managing epidural anesthesia.
• Return travelers welcome; RTO requests should be limited.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Mother Baby Center covering Labor & Delivery and Post-Partum units.
• Handle an average census of 8 deliveries per day and 15 post-partum patients per day.
• 3x12 hour shifts on Days or Nights with every other weekend required.
• Float within scope to meet facility needs and use Epic EMR.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby Center position requiring 2 years of L&D and post-partum experience and an active MN RN license.

Requirements

• Active or pending MN RN license accepted
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience with post-partum experience required
• Sterile vaginal exam experience required
• Fetal monitoring skills required, including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience administering Pitocin (oxytocin) required
• Experience managing and administering epidural anesthesia required
• Pain management and nitrous oxide skills preferred
• Minimum 1 supervisor reference required

Responsibilities

• Work in the Mother Baby Center, covering both Labor & Delivery and Post-Partum units of an acute care teaching hospital
• Average daily census of 8 deliveries per day and 15 post-partum patients per day
• 3x12 hour shifts available on Days (0700-1930) or Nights (1900-0730)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Will float within scope to meet facility needs, including within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Uses Epic (Excellian) EMR for charting
• Provide nursing care across both labor and post-partum patient populations
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
• Returning travelers must have been gone at least 3 months from their last shift worked as a Perm (Staff or Per Diem) employee
• RTO requests should ideally not exceed 5 days
