American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shift in North Carolina. Requires active NC license, 2 years RN experience, BLS, and ability to manage 1:6 patient ratios.

The role supports adult and geriatric med/surg telemetry patients on a night shift (18:45–07:15) with contracts ranging 13–26 weeks. Travel or local candidates welcome; flex shifts and mandatory holidays are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required; CPI certification preferred.
• 2 years of RN experience required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift.
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• IV therapy/phlebotomy, line care, blood products, port access/management.
• Respiratory skills: BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, oxygen administration.
• IV insulin protocol experience preferred.
• Isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac.
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
• Neuro/psychiatric and withdrawal care experience preferred.
• Surgical drain and TR Band experience preferred.
• EKG testing prior to start.

Responsabilités

• Cares for adult and geriatric med/surg telemetry patients.
• Maintains 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with census around 43.
• Night shift 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15).
• Contract lengths 13–26 weeks accepted.
• Call required; floats to like units as needed.
• Floating to ED and other areas; travelers float before core team.
• Every other weekend; holidays required.
• Unit uses Pyxis, Epic, SBAR, and BSSR.
• Unit orientation is 24 hours.
• Storm/Hurricane Team coverage may be required.
• Attend monthly unit meetings; additional meetings for night shift.
• Provide direct patient care including drips, respiratory support, cardiac monitoring.
• Navy and white scrubs required.
• First-time travelers welcome to apply.
• Local candidates within 50 miles considered locally.
• RTO up to 7 days auto-approved; some restrictions.

• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation, heparin protocols, and PCA
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• Experience in neurological/psychiatric and substance withdrawal care settings preferred
• Surgical drain and TR Band experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with general med/surg diagnoses
• Daily unit census of approximately 43 patients with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45-07:15, with 36 and 48 hour contracts accepted
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Call required as needed
• Floating required as needed to like units within skillset, including inpatient boarding in the ED, with travelers expected to float before core team members
• Every other weekend required
• Must be able to work holidays
• Unit performs heparin drips, high flow oxygen, and occasional limited short-term BiPap with respiratory support (no additional training required)
• Uses Pyxis, Epic, SBAR, and BSSR for medication, documentation, and communication
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Required to participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team coverage and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Required to attend monthly unit team meetings, with additional meetings for night shift staff
• Provide direct patient care to med/surg and telemetry patients, including managing drips, respiratory support, and cardiac monitoring
• Navy and white scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, not both
• Local candidates accepted at a local rate if residing within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment; all additional RTO requires facility approval and cannot be requested after signing
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Pre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annually
