American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele traveler position in North Carolina. Requires 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience and an active NC or Compact RN license, with BLS/ACLS/NIHSS. You will work nights on a 12-hour shift pattern in a Level 3 Trauma hospital with Stroke/Chest Pain Center designations.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, float within the region, and use of EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and PSN monitoring. Travel and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Strong communication skills and bedside manner required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference within last year from a Supervisor/Manager/Director/Charge RN

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, wound care, and plurex catheter management
• Strong communication skills and positive bedside manner required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• 44-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit in a Level 3 Trauma hospital with Stroke and Chest Pain Center of Excellence designations
• Cares for adult medical patients with respiratory illness, GI illness, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, behavioral health, and placement issues
• RN patient ratio of 1:4-6, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• Remote telemetry monitoring provided for all patients
• 12-hour night shift from 1845-0700, with some shifts 0645-1900, scheduled on a 6-week cycle
• 36 standard hours per week with every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float within the region to other nursing units and facilities, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities, within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Patient Safety Net (PSN) monitoring system
• Unit equipment includes Hoyer lift, EKG, bladder scanner, and vein finder
• Provide direct patient care including central line placement, with CNA and phlebotomy support for peripheral sticks
• Supported by a dedicated IV/VAT team for difficult sticks and central line dressing changes
• 24/7 respiratory therapy support provides all respiratory treatments
• 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage available for consults
• Charge nurse available when staffing allows, with unit secretary support on dayshift
• Orientation includes new employee orientation, facility flash orientation, and 2 days of departmental orientation with a preceptor
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
• Navy blue scrubs required

• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Previous permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
