Qualifications

• Strong Med-Surg background for floating.
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and use rapid response/code teams.
• Respiratory skills including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit with 36 beds and 1:6 patient ratio.
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts 18:45–07:15; 3x12 schedule.
• Work every other weekend and float to Med-Surg areas as needed.
• Use Epic and Pyxis systems; 24-hour unit orientation.
• Provide direct patient care with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Navy scrubs required; must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
• RTO up to 7 days if not on a holiday; no RTO during first assignment week.
• Local candidates within 50 miles eligible for lower rate.
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months to reapply.

• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Strong Med-Surg background required for floating
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care/management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Skills required include interpretation of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Respiratory skills required including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation Precautions/PPE knowledge required
• Epic charting experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit with 36 beds and a target patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, 3x12 schedule
• Required to work every other weekend
• Must be willing to float to all areas with Med-Surg patients
• Uses Epic and Pyxis systems
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Provide direct patient care to Med-Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Navy scrubs required and not provided
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying as a traveler, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
