Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shift in a 29-bed telemetry unit. You will care for adults with sepsis, UTI, CHF and post-MI/total joint cases, with a 1:5 ratio.

Requires MD/Compact RN license, BLS/NIHSS, and 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience. Floating to sister facilities, weekend and holiday coverage, and navy scrubs are included in the assignment.

Qualifications

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and NIHSS certification required
• ACLS and CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central line care, peripheral line care and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required

Responsibilities

• Work in a 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Adult patient population with diagnoses including sepsis, UTI, AKI, pneumonia, cholecystitis, and CHF
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty, other units, and sister facilities within scope
• No pre-scheduled on-call required
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Provide nursing care for Med/Surg Telemetry patients including post-MI and total joint replacement cases
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no restrictions or special requests
• Candidates residing less than 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless locals are specifically accepted
• Returning travelers must have at least 6 months since their last assignment with the health system
• Former staff must wait 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
• One contract extension typically allowed, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
