Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele travel position at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center. Requires 2 years of RN experience and CT/compact license, plus Epic charting experience.

The 10-week assignment offers a day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with floating, no on-call duties, and a focus on patient care in a high-volume trauma setting. Royal blue scrubs and travel housing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Active CT license required; compact license acceptable.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in MS/Tele; Level I Trauma or travel experience considered.
• Experience with Epic charting is required.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy and central line care required.
• Peripheral line care experience preferred.
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills required.
• Dysrhythmia management skills preferred.
• Experience using Rapid Response/Code teams required.
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required.
• Wound care experience preferred.
• Non-invasive airway management skills required.
• Level I Trauma experience at a large facility required.
• One professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a short-term acute care hospital.
• Maintain an average patient ratio of 1:5.
• Day shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Work every other weekend as needed.
• Float within scope to meet facility needs.

• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and central line care/management required
• Experience with peripheral line care/management preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills required
• Dysrhythmia management skills preferred
• Experience using Rapid Response/Code teams required
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Non-invasive airway management skills required
• Trauma Level I experience at a large facility required

Responsibilities

• No holiday RTO permitted for this assignment
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed during the contract
• Local radius restrictions waived for this 10-week assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previously employed staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Monthly parking cost of $125
