Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night assignment in Minneapolis, MN. The role requires a minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg Tele, active or pending MN RN license, and BLS certification.

You will float within the hospital, manage cardiac monitoring, and respond to emergencies. The position offers night shifts (19:00–07:30), no on-call duties, trauma and orthopedics experience preferred, and a comprehensive benefits package including housing and licensure

Qualifications

• Active or pending MN RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience.
• Charge nurse and trauma Level II experience preferred.
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood products, line care, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
• Experience with feeding tubes, heparin protocols, PCA and IV insulin protocols.
• Wound care, PPE, isolation precautions experience preferred.
• Oxygen therapy, nasal cannula, non-invasive ventilation use.
• Tracheostomy care preferred.
• Ortho trauma and joint replacement experience preferred.
• Peripheral nerve block catheter experience preferred.
• At least 1 supervisor reference required; Nursys certs and RTO documentation required.

Responsibilities

• Night shift 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30) in Med/Surg Tele unit.
• Work in Magnet-designated, teaching facility with Level III Trauma.
• Occasional weekend work every 3rd weekend; no on-call required.
• Float within hospital or affiliates as needed.
• EMR (Epic/Excellian) experience preferred.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care including meds administration and cardiac monitoring.
• Respond to cardiac emergencies and manage dysrhythmias.
• Relocation or distance restrictions apply (within 100 miles not eligible except radiology).
• Returning travelers or staff must have been away at least 3 months.
• RTO requests ideally not exceeding 5 days.
• First-time travelers may be considered.

• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, PCA, and IV insulin protocols
• Competency in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience preferred
• Peripheral nerve block catheter experience preferred
• At least 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
• Documentation required: certifications, Nursys verification, and RTO details

Responsibilities

• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) in a Med/Surg Tele unit
• Short term acute care hospital setting that is Magnet designated, a teaching facility, and Level III Trauma
• Required to work every 3rd weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
• Epic/Excellian EMR experience preferred
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg Tele patients including medication administration and cardiac monitoring
• Respond to and manage cardiac emergencies including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not eligible except for radiology positions
• Returning travelers or staff must have been gone at least 3 months from their last shift worked as a perm employee
• RTO requests should ideally not exceed 5 days
• Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to former perm employees
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
