Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with telemetry proficiency and EPIC charting experience for a 13-week contract assignment.

The ideal candidate will hold an active RN license (OH or compact), have at least 2 years in Med/Surg, and be comfortable interpreting telemetry strips on a busy teaching hospital unit.

Shifts are day 12s (0700-1930) with every-other weekend and holiday; travel housing and licensure support are provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license, OH or compact accepted.
• Current BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
• Must independently read and interpret telemetry strips.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Teaching hospital experience required.
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit with MS/Tele and Telemetry patient population.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (0700-1930).
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
• Travelers are first to float.
• Uses EPIC EMR system.
• Performs IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring.
• Cares for orthopedic and total joint replacement patients.
• Provide direct patient care including IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response on a telemetry-monitored Med/Surg unit.
• Navy blue scrubs required.
• Lab work must be completed within 48 hours of signing and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of signing.
• Maximum RTO of 10 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during initial weeks of assignment.
• More than one call-off may result in termination; no-call/no-show results in immediate termination.
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space with no pass required.
• Permanent address must be greater than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible to apply.
• Returning RNs must have a 366-day separation from prior employment with the health system before accepting a travel assignment; PRN employees may not accept travel assignments while actively employed PRN.
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position.
