Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in California requiring CA licensure. The nurse will float to DOU and ARU within scope of practice and maintain patient ratios per unit.

The role features a 13‑week assignment with a 3x12 night schedule (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Travel pairs are accepted; first‑time travelers are welcome to apply. Active CA license and current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS are required.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (CPI preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience
• Patient ratio experience of 1:4-5 required
• Floating to ARU and DOU within scope of practice

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit focus with potential float to telemetry
• Night shift 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• 13-week assignment length
• Mandatory float to ARU and DOU within scope of practice
• Nurse to patient ratio 1:3 in DOU and 1:5 in ARU
• Every other weekend required; Sunday nights not counted as weekend shift
• Provide nursing care across med/surg and telemetry with floating to ARU/DOU
• RTO must be submitted upfront
• Former permanent employees must be separated from facility 365 days before travel
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring CA RN licensure and mandatory floating to DOU and ARU units.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (CPI preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:4-5 required
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, feeding tube care, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, nasal cannula and oxygen mask use, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac management
• Preferred skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, PICC line management, and phlebotomy
• Travel pairs accepted though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• No prior travel experience required

• MS/Tele unit with primary focus on med/surg patients and potential float to telemetry
