American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in West Virginia. Requires 2+ years of RN experience and the ability to titrate cardiac drips. Active WV or Compact RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Unit is a 29-bed Med/Surg/Tele with EPIC EMR and Phillips telemetry monitors. 12-hour nights, every-other-weekend, holiday coverage, and travel housing/licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips

Responsibilities

• Staff Acute care Cardiac/Tele Stepdown unit (7N) in Level 2 Trauma hospital
• 29-bed unit with 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for cardiac, post-cath, and post-op patients in a stepdown setting
• RT manages CPAP and BiPap equipment on the unit
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Sat/Sun)
• Holiday coverage as part of perm staff rotation
• Floating to MedSurg/Tele units
• CNA support 1:12
• Charge nurse available 24/7 for assignments

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and the ability to titrate cardiac drips.

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• BSN not required

Responsibilities

• Acute care Cardiac/Tele Stepdown unit (7N) in a Level 2 Trauma hospital
• 29-bed unit with 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes cardiac patients, post cath, AMI, post-op lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, and pacemakers
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Sat/Sun)
• Holiday coverage required as part of the perm staff rotation schedule
• Floating required to any MedSurg/Tele unit
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Uses Phillips telemetry monitors
• CNA support available at approximately 1:12 ratio
• Charge nurse available 24/7 and takes patient assignments on nights
• Care for cardiac, post-cath, and post-op patients in a stepdown setting
• RT manages CPAP and BiPap equipment on the unit
• Royal blue scrubs required
• No false nails permitted
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for longer than one year without taking a 2-year break
• Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract
