Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg unit in West Virginia. The 18-bed unit operates 7p–7a with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio and telemetry, caring for COPD, CHF, joints and post-ops.

A WV or compact RN license and BLS are required, with at least 1 year of RN experience; travel experience is preferred. This travel-friendly assignment offers housing allowance and other benefits, with no call, no float, and a shadow orientation.

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Travel experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med Surg unit with 18 beds
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, total joints, hysterectomies, and general post-ops
• Telemetry present on the unit, with SCU RN monitoring and reading strips
• No drip titration required
• Charge nurse available all shifts, with house supervisor support
• Nurse aide ratios range from 1:6 to 1:9 depending on staffing
• RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP for patients with home-established use
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required (Fri, Sat, Sun)
• Holiday rotation required alongside permanent staff
• No call or standby requirement
• No floating required
• Uses MEDITECH charting system
• Unit orientation includes a shadow day followed by two 12-hour shifts
• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Schedulers will attempt to accommodate time-off requests, typically granting one longer block per month
• First-time travelers may be considered given at least 1 year of experience
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
