Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg Float Pool RN with an MD or compact license and travel experience to float between Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units on the night shift.

The role requires current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, with MEDITECH charting experience preferred. Responsibilities include floating between 4–6 units, working 3x12 hour nights, and rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool experience.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Must be able to independently interpret cardiac rhythms.

Responsibilities

• Float between 4–6 Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units within the hospital.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30).
• Rotating weekends and holidays.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6.
• Provide nursing care across multiple units and manage IV therapy, central and peripheral lines, and blood products.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN with MD or compact license and prior travel experience to float between Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units on night shift.

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required, no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of current Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must be able to independently interpret cardiac rhythms
• MEDITECH charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Proof of residency must match candidate's licensure

Responsibilities

• Float between 4–6 Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units within the hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• Block scheduling is not available
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Cares for a diverse patient population including cardiac telemetry, CVA, GI, and respiratory cases
• Provide nursing care across multiple Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units to support hospital staffing needs
• Perform IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Manage respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry both on-unit and remotely
• Administer medications per heparin protocols and IV insulin protocols
• Provide surgical drain and feeding tube care and management
• Facility is smoke-free
• Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
• Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available but not required
• No radius rule applies; local travelers receive the same pay rate
• RTO must be submitted for review and approval on a per-case basis
