Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position in Virginia. Candidates must hold a VA or compact RN license and have Med/Surg-Tele experience.

The role involves float duties across Med/Surg, Tele, and Orthopedics with a 1:6 patient ratio on a night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). Local candidates at base rate; 6-month gap for returning travelers. Required: active VA or compact license, BLS; ACLS and NIHSS preferred; minimum 2 years RN experience and specialty

Qualifications

• Active VA RN license or compact license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
• Skilled in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Float within Med/Surg, MS/Tele, and Orthopedics units, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, three 12-hour shifts weekly (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Provide nursing care across Med/Surg, Tele, and Orthopedic patient populations as part of a float pool team
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate
• Prior permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as travelers
• Keep requested time off to a minimum, ideally none, with a maximum of 7 days total during the assignment
• Candidates cannot work both travel and per diem contracts at this facility simultaneously
