American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuroscience unit needing 2+ years of experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

This Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Missouri offers a night shift (19:00–07:30) with 4x12s, travel-friendly terms, and comprehensive benefits. Ideal candidates have Med/Surg, telemetry, and neurosurgery drain management experience, EPIC charting, and the ability to float within the service line.

Qualifications

• Active MO RN license or compact license required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in Med/Surg.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• EPIC charting experience preferred.
• Experience with medication administration, Heparin, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response.
• Experience in Neurology/Neurosurgery care and surgical drain management.

Responsibilities

• Night shift 4x12 hours: 19:00–07:30 in Neurosurgery unit.
• Magnet-designated teaching hospital Level I Trauma Center.
• Care for pre/post cranial/spinal surgery patients.
• Patient ratios 1:4–6.
• Manage surgical drains; unit does not manage titratable drips (except Heparin).
• Floating within service line to meet facility needs.
• Provide direct patient care to pre-/post-operative neurosurgical patients.
• EPIC charting.
• Navy blue scrubs.
• Candidates must reside >75 miles from the facility; no local candidates.
• Facial hair must allow respirator fit testing.
• No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO in first week.
• Travelers may stay 18 months, then 3-month break.
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any health-system facility as traveler.
• First-time travelers not required to have prior travel experience.

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
• Skills required: medication administration, Heparin administration, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience in Med/Surg, telemetry, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, neurological/psychiatric care, pre/post neurosurgery, and surgical drain management required

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30) in a Neurosurgery unit
• Magnet-designated, teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Patient population includes pre- and post-operative cranial and spinal surgery patients, with occasional general neurology and stroke patients as secondary coverage
• Patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Unit manages intermittently drained lumbar and surgical drains
• Unit does not manage titratable drips (except Heparin), trached/total laryngectomy patients, EVDs, fresh TPA administration, or arterial lines
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• EPIC charting system used
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Provide direct patient care to pre- and post-operative neurosurgical patients, including management of surgical drains
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
• No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Travelers may stay for an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the health system as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
