Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a skilled RN for a Neuro/Ortho Med/Surg unit in Texas. The role requires at least 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience and NIHSS certification. You will work 4x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with a 1:6 patient ratio and floating to other units as needed.

Active TX or compact RN license and current BLS/NIHSS are required. Prior Epic EMR experience is preferred; neurology/psychiatry and orthopedics experience is highly valued for this assignment.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions including CVA, mood disorders, substance withdrawal, and TBI.
• Experience with pre/post neurosurgery care preferred.
• Experience in orthopedics including ortho trauma and total joint replacement.
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters preferred.
• PPE, wound care, IV therapy and peripheral line care proficiency.
• Respiratory care experience including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg unit setting focused on Neuro/Ortho.
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM).
• 36 or 48 hour weekly scheduling options.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Floating to other units as needed.
• Weekend shifts required.

• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Onboarding core items/labs must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
