American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg - Neuro RN with NIHSS certification and recent Neuro experience for a 13-week day shift assignment.

The role requires an active NM or Compact RN license, BLS, NIHSS, and CPI preferred, with a minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience and 1:6 patient care. Epic charting is used; extensive responsibilities include airway, CVA, wound care, and postop care across a 32-bed Neuro unit.

• First-time travelers accepted if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios required
• Skills span IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood products, chest tubes, wound care, and related nursing duties
• Experience with CVA care and renal/hemodialysis management beneficial
• Medication administration experience with insulin, heparin, and PCA

Aufgaben

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit with 32 beds
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options with overtime beyond 48 hours
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to units within scope with orientation
• Participates in rapid response team activation
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and neurological nursing care including airway, GI, and drain management
• Phlebotomy and management of peripheral and central IV lines
• Monitor isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Onsite orientation modules (avg 4-6 hours for RNs)
• Labs completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
• Prior staff wait 1 year before returning as traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• RTO 3-4 days max; no RTO in first week of orientation

• Skills needed include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube management, and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care preferred
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Experience with insulin, heparin, and PCA medication administration

Responsibilities

• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available, with overtime applied beyond 48 hours
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to like units within scope, with brief orientation provided
• Participates in rapid response team activation
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and neurological nursing care including airway management, GI care, and surgical drain management
• Perform phlebotomy and maintain peripheral and central IV lines
• Monitor and manage patients with isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Completion of onsite orientation modules required (average 4-6 hours for RNs)
• Labs must be completed within 48 business hours of contract signing
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
• Maximum of 3-4 days RTO can be auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
