Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of Med Surg and/or Oncology experience.

Responsibilities include 12-hour night shifts, floating within the same discipline, use of Epic EMR, and holiday coverage. Travel housing and licensing reimbursements are provided, with comprehensive benefits. RN candidates must meet IA licensure requirements and travel readiness.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in IA or Compact.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred).
• NIHSS certification required (may be obtained during onboarding).
• 2+ years Med Surg/Oncology experience required.
• High-acuity care experience preferred.
• Experience administering Heparin, PCA, and epidural drips.
• Chemo drip experience required if certified.
• Valid driver's license required for consideration.
• Skills checklist specific to Med Surg required for consideration.
• One supervisory reference from within last two years required for consideration.

• 4A Surg/Onc unit care for orthopedic, urology, general surgery, oncology, and medical patients.
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Every third weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Floating within the same discipline across local campuses.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Level 3 Trauma Center setting.
• Contributes professional and clinical knowledge as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
• Navy blue scrub color required.
• Winter holiday coverage for 2 of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day).
• Limited time-off requests permitted during the winter holiday period.
• First-time travelers welcome; prior travel experience preferred.
• Residents must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
• UnityPoint Health employees in the past 12 months may be ineligible for travel assignments.
