American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in Colorado Springs. Active CO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience are required.

RN will work on a busy Med/Surg Renal unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, titrating drips and using EPIC EMR. Requirements include BLS/ACLS, TNCC and NIHSS skills, and a copy of a driver’s license. Applicants must provide two professional references and be prepared for orientation and one 12‑hour shift

Qualifications

• Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• TNCC and NIHSS skills required.
• Driver's license copy required for consideration.
• Two professional references: one supervisor (last 12 months) and one peer/supervisor (last 3 years), with dates and rehiring eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 22 beds (Renal).
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
• Titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives.
• Use EPIC EMR for patient documentation.
• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Renal unit.
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week; self- and block scheduling optional.
• Weekend and holiday requirements; floating per unit needs.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

• TNCC and NIHSS skills required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med/Surg unit (5th floor, Renal) with 22 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Patient population includes CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeds, and acute renal failure
• RNs required to titrate drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and vents
• No tele/monitor techs on unit
• Charge nurse available and may take an assignment
• Nurse aide ratio of 1:50
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Floating may be required within Zone 1 (Penrose Hospital, St Francis, St Francis InterQuest, St Mary Corwin, St Thomas More) based on extreme need, including to ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12 hours of orientation provided, with week of orientation requiring in-state presence
• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Renal unit with a varied diagnosis population
• Administer and titrate medication drips as part of daily responsibilities
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• Call or standby requirements determined by the nurse manager
• Floating requirements determined by nurse manager and department needs
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
• Unit/department specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
