Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery assignment in Texas. The role requires a TX or compact RN license and 2+ years of L&D experience, with current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certification.

The position covers high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, with day shifts (3x12 hours) and Epic charting. Travel experience is required; locals within 50 miles are not considered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
• AWHONN certification required at any level.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with fetal monitoring, EFM, and obstetrical triage.
• Labor/delivery management including vaginal deliveries and C-sections circulating.
• High-risk antepartum care and med administration (Pitocin, MgSO4, antihypertensives).
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit with high-risk antepartum, Mother/Baby, and LDRP capabilities.
• Facility delivers 100-200 births per month.
• Day shift, 3x12 hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
• Patient ratios: Labor 1:2, Antepartum 1:3, Mother/Baby 1:3.
• Epic EMR used for charting.
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and newborn care including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation.
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education for postpartum patients.
• First-time travelers will not be considered.
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted as locals.
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted.
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation.

• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum phases
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and newborn care including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education for postpartum patients
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted as locals
• Previous staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
