Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 10-week winter coverage assignment at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Night shift 19:00-07:00, every other weekend, open to block scheduling. Travel assignment with housing and licensure reimbursements offered, and Epic charting used for documentation.

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date.
• 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required (1.5 years considered for Level I Trauma or travel experience).
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS, AWHONN Beginner, and NRP certifications preferred.
• 1:2 patient ratio experience.
• Experience with EFM (External and Internal Fetal Monitoring) and IUPC placement/calibration.
• Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections.
• Experience managing high-risk antepartum and postpartum care.
• Experience with medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• 1 reference required for consideration.
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted.
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious/medical exemptions only.

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00).
• 10-week contract specifically for winter coverage.
• Every other weekend required.
• On-call requirement of two 4-hour blocks per 6-week schedule.
• No floating required outside of scope.
• Open to block scheduling accommodations.
• Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital with 1,567 staffed beds.
• Facility delivers 200-300 births per month.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Scrubs provided.
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care in a high-volume L&D unit.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and neonatal resuscitation.
• Support antepartum care including non-stress tests and cervical exams.
• Provide postpartum care including couplet care, lactation support, and wound care.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• No holiday RTO permitted during this assignment.
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed.
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (radius restriction waived for this 10-week assignment).
• Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler.
• Travelers must be willing to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities.
