Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery in Los Angeles, CA. The role requires advanced fetal monitoring, Epic EMR, and Allscripts/charting proficiency. You will care for low- and high-risk obstetric patients across triage, LDR, and OR settings.

The position features a night schedule (4x12h), weekend shifts, on-call duties, and travel-friendly terms. A CA RN license and current certifications are essential, with first-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced.
• Minimum 2.5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Recent experience performing sterile vaginal exams and managing high-risk patients.
• Knowledge of the CMQCC Category II algorithm required.
• Advanced fetal monitoring experience required.
• Skilled in recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Allscripts charting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with 4 triage bays, 11 LDR rooms, 2 ORs, onsite NICU and Post-Partum units.
• Support low and high-risk L&D patients with 24/7 OB hospitalist and OB anesthesia coverage.
• Cover night shifts 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (4x12h).
• Work 4 weekend shifts per month (Fri or Sat).
• On-call approximately 2 times per month, plus 3 scheduled shifts; may be on-call for unscheduled shifts.
• Float to Perinatal as needed; circulates for C-sections.
• Use external fetal monitoring equipment; Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide comprehensive L&D nursing care across triage, LDR, OR.
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates at travel rate.

• Mandatory on-call responsibilities, approximately 2 times per month in addition to 3 scheduled shifts
• May be placed on call status if not needed for a scheduled shift
• Float to Perinatal required as needed
• Circulates for C-sections
• Uses external fetal monitoring equipment
• Charting systems include SBAR, Omnicell, and eMD Allscripts
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide comprehensive Labor and Delivery nursing care across triage, LDR, and OR settings
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Returning staff reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Facility is smoke and nicotine-free; candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
• RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and cannot exceed 3 days total
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• One holiday RTO request may be submitted but is not guaranteed approval
• Must work most holidays
• Advanced EKG exam required prior to start, with a minimum passing score of 80% and up to two attempts allowed
