Responsibilities

• Collaborate with scrub tech, OB physicians and anesthesia team
• Operate within Epic EMR and hospital monitoring systems
• Provide comprehensive labor and newborn care including resuscitation
• Work 12-hour night shifts 1900–0700, 36 hours weekly, every other weekend

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring 2+ years of LDRP experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
• Skills in labor management, cesarean section circulation, pre-op, PACU, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management required
• Must be willing and able to work in an LDRP setting
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• LDRP unit with 10 LDRP beds, 2 OB beds, and 2 triage beds
• Average daily census of approximately 7 patients
• Patient population includes labor, triage, postpartum, and newborn care
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
• Dedicated scrub tech supports laboring patients
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No call requirements
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Schedule operates on a 6-week cycle
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Unit-specific equipment includes bladder scanner, fetal monitoring, and HUGGS system
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including newborn resuscitation and epidural/Pitocin management
• Work alongside a dedicated scrub tech, charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, OB physicians, and an anesthesia/CRNA team
• Monitor or recover cesarean section patients in-room unless under general anesthesia
• Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Scrubs are provided and parking is free
• Unit culture is described as positive and family-oriented
• First-time travelers may be considered if necessary
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
