Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a small community hospital in Idaho. The role requires 2 years of L&D experience, an active RN license (state or compact), and current BLS/ACLS/NRP/STABLE certifications. You may float to Med Surg as needed.

Shifts are 3x12 hours (19:00–07:00) with every other weekend and call. Expect care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including high-risk cases. Prior travel experience at this facility is a plus.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (State or Compact) required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, FHM, NRP, and STABLE
• Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience drawing venous blood and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs, and using infusion pumps/drips
• Two professional references in specialty required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital, teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Small community hospital with 30-40 births per year
• Labor and Delivery unit with a 1:2 patient ratio
• Required to float to Med Surg with a 1:3-5 patient ratio
• Every other weekend required
• Call requirements apply
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Manage high-risk conditions including pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and VBAC/trial of labor
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
• Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide postpartum recovery care including C-section recovery
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
• Candidates with prior employment at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers not considered for this role
