Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift teaching hospital position in North Carolina. Requires 2+ years of L&D experience and NC/Compact licensure, with BLS, ACLS, and NRP certificates.

The role includes a 3x12 night schedule (19:00-7:30), floating between High Risk and L&D units, and Epic charting. Travel and onsite requirements apply, with a focus on patient safety and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Open availability with no blocked scheduling and every other weekend.
• Float between High Risk and Labor & Delivery units and provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring 2+ years of recent L&D experience and NC/Compact licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license, NC or Compact, required in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass an onsite EKG/Telemetry exam
• 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit at a teaching hospital with over 300 births per month
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Open availability required with no blocked scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Will float between High Risk and Labor & Delivery units
• Epic charting system used
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care settings
• Experience with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor is valued
• Skills in fetal monitoring, VBAC management, and assisting with vaginal and C-section deliveries are part of the role
• Scrubs provided in royal blue
• Orientations held bi-weekly
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
• Previous permanent employment at this health system must be disclosed and must not have occurred within the past 6 months
• RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
