Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with an active Alabama or compact RN license, NRP and ACLS certification, and 1–2 years of L&D experience for a night shift assignment.

The 13-week contract runs 3x12s (19:00–07:30) with a 1:2 patient ratio. Travel staff are welcome, with benefits including insurance and 401(k), and some local pay adjustments within 60 miles.

Qualifications

• Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications
• 1–2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Experience with electronic charting system required
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit with a facility delivering 100-200 births per month
• Night shift, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Work at least 2 holidays during the contract period
• Care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn units
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including forceps/vacuum
• Administer Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at lower pay
• Time off limited to 7 days during assignment
• Prior permanent employees not eligible for this travel position
• First-time travelers welcome meeting the L&D experience

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with an active Alabama or compact RN license, NRP and ACLS certification, and at least 1-2 years of L&D experience for a night shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active Alabama RN license or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NRP
• Minimum 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Experience with any electronic charting system required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience circulating and scrubbing for C-sections and assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
• Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures

Responsibilities

• Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education for postpartum patients
• Manage complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
• Requested time off limited to a maximum of 7 days during the assignment
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
• First-time travelers welcome to apply provided they meet the required L&D experience
