Job summary

American Traveler seeks an experienced ICU Float RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in Sioux Falls, SD. Active SD or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, 1+ year RN experience, and ICU skills are required; travel nurses with specialty certification are preferred.

Role covers a central resource pool across high-acuity units, with 36 hours/week on 12-hour shifts, day shifts only, and rotating weekends/holidays. Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Acudose used daily.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certification
• Minimum 1 year RN experience
• Specialty certification preferred
• Skills include BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen therapy, sedation monitoring, telemetry, and med-surg care
• BSN not required

Responsibilities

• Cover a 30-bed medical-surgical unit and 8-bed progressive care unit with flex to 41 beds
• Care for pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, PE and complex oxygen therapy cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute IMC; 1:4/5 on day and 1:5/6 on night Med-Surg
• Use Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Acudose for meds
• Work straight day shifts with alternating weekends and holidays
• Float to other Med-Surg units as needed; travelers reassigned first
• 36 guaranteed hours per week on 12-hour shifts
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team for patient-centered care
• Unit orientation includes competency validation and online modules
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Prior health system employees must have end date ≥6 months prior to submission
• All staff must badge in/out at facility
• First-time travelers may be considered

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU Float RN with SD or compact RN licensure and mechanical ventilation skills for a 13-week acute care assignment.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Specialty certification preferred
• Required skills include BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow oxygen, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and medical-surgical patient care
• BSN not required for this position

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting within a Central Resource Pool covering a 30-bed medical surgical unit and 8-bed progressive care unit, with flex capacity up to 41 beds based on volume
• Patient population includes pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolism cases, as well as complex cases requiring oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation monitoring, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and mechanical ventilation
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC RNs, and 1:4/5 on day shifts and 1:5/6 on night shifts in Med-Surg
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medication dispensing
• Straight day shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to other Med-Surg units required, with travelers reassigned first
• 36 guaranteed hours per week over 12-hour shifts
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and physical therapists to deliver patient-centered care
• Unit-specific orientation includes competency validation, online modules, and a precepted shift prior to independent patient care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Clinicians who previously worked for this health system must disclose this and have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• All staff must badge in and out at the facility
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
