Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Float Pool position in the Boise area. The ideal candidate holds an Idaho or Compact RN license, with 2+ years of ICU experience and current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications.

Role involves floating across ER, ICU, MedSurg, Tele, L&D/PP, and NICU within three facilities, with a 1:1–2 patient ratio in ICU. Shift is 12 hours (7p–7a), with travel requirements and no self-scheduling.

Qualifications

• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Must be able to titrate drips.

Responsibilities

• Float across ER, ICU, MedSurg, Tele, L&D/PP, and NICU units at three Boise-area facilities.
• RNs float only within their specialty and may act as a 1:1 sitter when needed.
• ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2.
• Utilize EPIC EMR for charting.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Float Pool position requiring a compact or Idaho RN license and 2+ years of ICU experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Idaho or Compact) required, active at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry/monitor equipment
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting within the Float Pool, floating across ER, ICU, MedSurg, Tele, L&D/PP, and NICU units at three facilities (Boise, Meridian, and Nampa)
• RNs float only within their specialty and never to a lower acuity unit, and may also serve as a 1:1 sitter in any area
• ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), with weekends as needed
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling attempted but not guaranteed
• Travelers are first to float and may float mid-shift to different units or facilities as needed
• No call or standby requirements
• Charge nurse present on all units and shifts, with float pool assistant managers on call 24/7 for support
• Nurse aides/patient care techs present on units at ratios of approximately 1:8-10
• Unit assignments are communicated via app approximately 1 hour before shift start
• All facilities are located about 20 minutes apart, off the interstate, with safe parking available
• Dress code allows any clean, professional scrub color
• Orientation includes a day 1 meet-and-greet plus 3 shifts of inpatient orientation
• Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
