Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment in Virginia. Active VA or compact license and 2+ years ICU experience required.

You may float to CVICU/CVSD or Cardiac Tele as needed. Night shifts are 3x12s (with an option for 4x12s), and weekends are scheduled every other week. A 13-week commitment is typical, with on-call likely for certain areas.

Qualifications

• Active VA or Compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience.
• Minimum one prior travel assignment.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications.
• Epic Clin Doc training required.

Responsibilities

• ICU care with potential floating to CVICU/CVSD or Cardiac Tele.
• Night shift 3x12s (option for 4x12s).
• Every other weekend.
• 13-week assignment length.
• On-call may be required within 30 miles/30 minutes of campus.
• Uses Epic EMR with training based on prior Epic experience.
• Care for critically ill ICU patients with possible float to related units.
• Floating follows client staffing policies and Joint Commission standards.
• Flu vaccine required Oct 1–Mar 31; exemptions per CMS guidelines.

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum of one previous travel assignment required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must complete Epic Clin Doc training (accelerated or 2-day class based on experience level)

Responsibilities

• ICU unit setting with the possibility of floating to other hospital areas such as CVICU/CVSD or Cardiac Tele
• Night shift schedule of 3x12s with an option for 4x12s
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week assignment length
• On-call may be required for certain areas within a 30 mile/30 minute radius of campus
• Uses Epic EMR for clinical documentation, with training class assigned based on prior Epic experience
• Care for critically ill patients within the ICU, with potential floating to related specialty units
• Floating, if required, will follow client staffing policies and Joint Commission standards
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with exemptions subject to CMS guideline compliance
• Facility is smoke and nicotine freePrevious VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests should be minimal and submitted prior to assignment start, as approval after offer is not guaranteed
• Up to 7 hours of non-billable orientation modules required, completed during onboarding
