Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a high acuity respiratory care stepdown unit, requiring trauma and neuro critical care background and ventilator management experience.

This 13-week day-shift assignment runs 3x12s (7:00-19:30) with every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage. Applicants must hold a Florida RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and Epic/Cerner EMR experience.

Qualifications

• Active FL or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification via AHA.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required in hand.
• Minimum 3 years recent critical care with ventilator support.
• Trauma and neuro critical care experience required.
• FBON-approved education with 2 years acute care in US hospital in past 24 months.
• Operation Nightingale schools not accepted.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Charge SICU MICU trauma stroke Cerner experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high acuity respiratory care in a stepdown ICU setting.
• 13-week assignment on day shift, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:30).
• Every other weekend required; floating as needed.
• Holiday coverage as needed (eve and day).
• Patient ratio 3:1 to 4:1 depending on staffing; no block scheduling.
• Locals within 60 miles may be paid at a lower rate; travel pairs not considered.
• Uses Epic EMR; provide care to ventilator-dependent patients.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a high acuity respiratory care stepdown unit requiring trauma and neuro critical care background with ventilator management experience.

Requirements

• Active FL or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certification via AHA
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute/chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support
• Trauma and neuro critical care experience required
• Degree required from an accredited school, or from an FBON-approved institution combined with 2 years of recent, consecutive acute care experience within a US hospital in the past 24 months
• Candidates from Operation Nightingale Schools not accepted
• Epic EMR experience required
• Charge RN, SICU, MICU, trauma, stroke, and Cerner experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing to high acuity respiratory and ventilator-dependent patients in a stepdown ICU setting
• Smoke-free facility
• Must pass a basic arrhythmia/EKG competency assessment, with a retake required within 24 hours if not passed with 100% on lethal rhythms and 83% or higher overall if needed
• Locals within a 60-mile radius will be considered at a lower rate than travel candidates
• Former Broward Health permanent employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Proof of vaccination status required with no declinations accepted
