Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in Oregon. The role requires critical care skills, drip titration, and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications. You will work 16-bed ICU with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios and titrate multiple drips under hospitalist/ Intensivist support.

Shifts run 0645-1915 or 1845-0715, with every other weekend and major/minor holidays. OR license eligibility is noted; travel and licensure reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license for state of submission, or compact/NLC license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of acute/critical care ICU experience.
• Experience titrating ICU drips and leveraging hospital resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care in a 16-bed ICU with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Titrat e drips such as Levophed, Propofol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, Precedex.
• Collaborate with hospitalists/intensivists and 24/7 respiratory therapy.
• Read telemetry strips and manage patients without techs on unit.
• Shift rotations 0645-1915 or 1845-0715; every other weekend; major/minor holidays.
• May be placed on call with 30-minute response; unit orientation consists of 2 shifts.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring critical care skills, drip titration experience, and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission required, pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Acute care and critical care experience required
• Experience titrating common ICU drips required
• OR RN license eligibility required (can apply for the 90-day OR Emergency License; OR license not required at time of submission)
• Driver's license required at time of consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care ICU with 16 beds and 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Common diagnoses include cardiac and respiratory conditions
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Levophed, Propofol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, and Precedex
• Hospitalist or intensivist available in house
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with full ventilator, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment access
• No monitor techs on the unit; RNs read their own telemetry strips
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor support available on all shifts
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• Shifts scheduled 0645-1915 or 1845-0715, days
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday requirement of 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• May be placed on call for low census with a 30-minute response time requirement
• Contract RNs float first per union contract, with efforts made to rotate floating fairlyUnit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
• Provide direct patient care to critically ill cardiac and respiratory patients in a fast-paced ICU setting
• Work closely with in-house hospitalists/intensivists and 24/7 respiratory therapy support
• Dress code requires solid-color scrubs in black, cocoa brown, charcoal grey, navy blue, or khaki
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
