Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Medical ICU position in Louisiana. The role requires ventilator management and critical care drip knowledge at a Level II Trauma Center, with responsibilities including 12-hour shifts and occasional floating to other units.

Candidates must possess an active RN license (LA or compact), BLS/ACLS, and at least 1 year ICU experience. COVID-19 patient care is expected. Travel housing and reimbursements are part of the package.

• Documentation completed in Meditech using EBCD.
• 12-hour shifts from 7A-7P, every other weekend required.
• Floating to other Medical-Surgical units with ICU priority.

Requirements

• Active RN license (LA or compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• TNCC certification a plus
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required
• Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
• Strong ventilator management and critical care drip knowledge required
• Proficient assessment skills across cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems required
• Experience donning and doffing PPE required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

• Work in a 26-bed Medical ICU within the hospital's South Tower
• Patient ratio of 2:1 with total patient care provided by RNs
• RNs supported by a unit secretary/COVID runner
• Equipment used includes ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, glucometers, and iMobile phones
• Documentation completed in Meditech using Evidence Based Clinical Documentation (EBCD)
• 12-hour shifts from 7A-7P, every other weekend required
• Floating to other Medical-Surgical units required, with priority given to Intensive Care Units
• Unit performs intubations, cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placement and management, IABP management, CRRT, and proning of patients
• Facility is a Level II Trauma Center, Certified Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Facility is Pathways to Excellence Certified and working toward Magnet status
• Unit recognized as an HCA Unit of Distinction, ranked #2 ICU in HCA in 2019
• Patient experience expectations include hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, use of 'My Care Board,' and AIDET communication
• Dress code includes ceil blue scrubs with optional white or ceil blue scrub jacket
• Green surgery scrubs provided for staff working with COVID-19 patients
• Self-scheduling available within unit guidelines
• Many staff members hold national certifications, including management
• Unit includes several highly tenured nursing staff
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
• One professional reference required for consideration
