Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department assignment in Wisconsin. This travel position requires prior travel nursing experience and an active WI or compact RN license.

Certifications in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS are required, with TNCC/TNS preferred. The ED serves both adult and pediatric patients in a Level II Trauma Center with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Qualifications

  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • TNCC and TNS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skilled in emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience managing shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations preferred
  • Skilled in orthopedic splinting and ortho trauma care
  • Experience with pediatric emergencies including epiglottitis, poison ingestion, seizures, and sickle cell crisis preferred
  • Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Arterial line management experience preferred
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, chest tube care, ABG interpretation, and intubation preferred
  • Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, and traumatic brain injury preferred
  • Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and spinal cord injury management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Department setting serving a combined adult/pediatric population in a Level II Trauma Center
  • Stroke certified and STEMI certified facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Evening shift, 3x12 hours (15:00-03:30)
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • Provide direct emergency care across adult and pediatric populations in a high-acuity trauma setting
  • Identify and report suspected neglect or abuse
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Travelers may return only after a minimum 1-year separation from the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
  • Travel pairs accepted
  • Facility cannot accommodate latex allergies
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
