Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department travel assignment in West Virginia. The role requires 2+ years of ER experience and multiple specialty certifications.

You will work a 1:4 patient ratio on a rotating day schedule with 7:00-19:30 shifts, travel eligibility, and comprehensive benefits including housing allowance and medical coverage. Active WV/compact license, 75+ mile res-distro, references, PPE, and holiday coverage are required.

Qualifications

• Active WV or Compact RN license in hand at submission.
• Minimum 2 years of current ER experience required.
• 3-6 months Level IV Trauma experience or above preferred.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, CPI (or Avade).
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Skilled in managing violent behavior and psychiatric holds.
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted.
• Two professional references required, one from a Charge nurse or higher and one from a supervisor, within the last year.
• Copy of certifications and unexpired driver's license matching permanent address required.

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients.
• 1:4 patient ratio.
• Day shift schedule alternating 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30) on a rotating two-week schedule.
• Float required within scope of practice.
• Every other weekend required.
• Cardiac monitoring, EKG/ECG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management.
• Manages psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior.
• Manages pediatric respiratory and behavioral health cases.
• Performs procedural sedation administration and monitoring.
• Provides ortho trauma care including splint application.
• Performs IV therapy and phlebotomy.
• Cares for ventilated and intubated patients with BiPAP/CPAP management.
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront with no changes accepted.
• Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period.
• Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after working one year before returning.
• Travel pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit.
• Travel experience preferred but first-time travelers will be considered.
