American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a Level IV Trauma Center's Emergency Department in Wisconsin. Requires WI or compact RN license, EPIC EMR proficiency, and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• ENPC and TNCC certifications preferred
• De-escalation training such as MOAB or CPI preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Stroke and trauma care, splinting, pediatric care, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line management
• Minimum 1 professional reference within the last year from a supervisor/manager/director/charge RN
• Candidate's full name and date of birth with last 4 SSN digits required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed Emergency Department at a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Overflow capacity includes 5 IR overflow beds and 20+ hallway beds
• Average ED volume is 90 patients per day, 90-110 during busy periods
• Patient population: 50% adult, 25% geriatric, 15% pediatric, 10% behavioral health
• Cases: trauma, cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and mental health/SI
• Care ratios: 1:3, flexing to 1:4-5 or 1:2 with critical care
• 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715), ~36 hours/week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Schedules released 4 weeks at a time, 2 weeks in advance
• No on-call requirements
• Rare floating to assist other units with hard IV sticks
• Uses EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis systems
• Telemetry at bedside and nursing station; no tele tech
• Unit support includes ED techs, charge nurse, case manager, therapy teams
• Emergency care in fast-paced, high-acuity environment with ~25% utilization
• Orientation includes login, EPIC training day 1, unit orientation days 2-3
• Must be available for 2 holidays (nights before holiday, days on holiday)
• Time-off requests up to 7 days approved by manager; more via email
• Scrubs may be any professional color

Responsibilities

• Cases include trauma (falls, MVAs, industrial accidents, GSW, stabbings), cardiac (STEMI, CHF), neuro (strokes), respiratory (RSV, COPD, respiratory failure), and mental illness/SI
• Routine patient ratio is 1:3, flexing to 1:4-5 during high census, or 1:2 for RNs with critical care background
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1845-0715), averaging 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Schedules are provided 4 weeks at a time, released 2 weeks in advance
• No on-call requirements
• Rare floating to assist other units with hard IV sticks, with no outside patient assignments
• Uses EPIC (required), Alaris, and Pyxis systems
• Telemetry monitoring is available at bedside and nursing station without a dedicated tele tech
• Unit support includes ED techs, charge nurse, triage nurse, case manager, physical therapy, intake counselor, public safety, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, house supervisor, and a trained forensic team, all with varying coverage hours
• Provide emergency care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with approximately 25% utilization
• Orientation includes login/system access, online modules, hospital tour, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit-specific orientation on days two and three
• Must be available to work 2 holidays (nights on eve of holiday, days on holiday)
• Time off requests up to 7 days are approved directly; additional days require manager approval via email
• Scrubs may be any professional color
• Free parking is available in designated employee areas
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have EPIC experience
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible for this travel assignment
