Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department position in Texas. Active TX or compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC and ENPC certifications are required, with a minimum of 2 years ER experience. Prior travel nursing experience and Level II Trauma Center exposure are essential.

The role features night shifts (4x12 hours), 1:4 patient ratio, weekend coverage, and holiday requirements. Housing and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC
• Minimum 2 years ER experience
• Prior travel nursing experience
• Level II Trauma Center experience
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Experience managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, multisystem organ dysfunction
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE

Responsibilities

• Fast-paced, high-acuity Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15, on a 36/48 alternating schedule (straight 48s also considered)
• 12 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) required per contract
• Must work Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day OR Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including pediatrics, psychiatric emergencies, respiratory distress, and neurological events
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of emergency medications and vasopressors
• Apply splints and assist with orthopedic care as needed
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
