Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift in Minnesota. The ideal candidate holds an MN RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least two years in CVICU, with preference for travel nurses and expertise in LVAD/ECMO devices.

Responsibilities include direct care for high-acuity post-cardiac surgery patients, 1:2 ratios, and potential float to related ICUs. Navy blue scrubs, 3×12s, and weekend coverage are required.

Qualifications

• Active MN RN license (pending license accepted).
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
• PA catheter interpretation and analysis required.
• LVAD/RVAD, Impella, and IABP experience required.
• CRRT (Prismaflex) and ECMO preferred.
• Ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and targeted temperature management proficiency required.
• Bedside trachs, PEGs, temporary pacemakers, and Centra Mag preferred.
• Heart Mate 2 & 3 preferred.
• Epic/Excellian charting experience preferred.
• Must provide date of birth, SSN, copies of certifications, Nursys verification, and RTO at time of consideration.
• At least one supervisor reference required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity CVICU setting.
• Care for post-cardiac surgery patients directly from the OR.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratio in a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
• Float within ICU community as needed (CVICU, Med/Surg ICU, Neuro ICU).
• Operate within Epic/Excellian charting system.
• Night shift: 19:00–07:30, 3x12-hour shifts, every other weekend.

• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Expected to float within ICU community including CVICU, Med/Surg ICU, and Neuro ICU
• Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care setting, including post-cardiac surgery recovery direct from OR
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility for consideration unless applying for a radiology position
• RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
• Former Allina perm staff must have a 3-month gap since their last shift to be eligible for consideration
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Allina does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to former perm employees
