American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position in Maryland. Requires MD or Compact RN license and CVICU/open heart experience. Ventilator management, arterial lines, and ETT/NT suctioning are central responsibilities.

Open to travelers with 2+ years CVICU experience; CPI certification required. 6:30 AM time blocks, 36 hours/week, with floating to IMC as needed. Housing allowance and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only).
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• First-time travelers with 2+ years CVICU/open heart experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• CVICU unit with 8 beds and average daily census of 6.
• 3x12 Day shift schedule (07:30-20:00), 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend required; Holiday coverage as scheduled.
• Floating within specialty to IMC and lower acuity units as needed.
• Patient ratio 1:2 in CVICU/CCRU (1:3 if floated to IMC).
• Care for adult and geriatric cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve).
• Provides post-op care with 1:1 for first 12 hours; manages ventilators with RT.
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version accepted).

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring MD or Compact RN license and prior CVICU/open heart experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• First-time travelers considered with 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Experience managing ventilated patients required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CABG, IABP, sheath removal, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, and valve repair/replacement
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Proficient in obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)

• Patient ratio of 1:2 in CVICU/CCRU, or 1:3 if floated to IMC
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Cares for patients with cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD (STEMI, NSTEMI), AFib with RVR, cardiogenic shock, vascular conditions (peripheral bypasses, EVAR), and thoracic cases (VATS)
• Provides immediate post-op care for cardiac surgery patients including 1:1 care for first 12 hours
• Manages ventilators in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Utilizes specialized equipment including FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, and Impella
• Performs groin/radial artery management including fem stop and TR bands
• Provides direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care setting
• Collaborates with respiratory therapy for ventilator management
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless locals are specifically stated as accepted
• Former staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system after completing an assignment
• Most units allow one contract extension, after which a 6-month break is required before returning to the same facility or unit
• Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; more than 4 consecutive days may require an extra week added to the contract
• One major holiday off during the winter season may be allowed depending on location and unit
• Travelers are expected to float within scope without restrictions, with travelers floating first
