Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU travel assignment. Must hold TN or compact RN license, active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and have 1+ year CVICU or ICU experience.

Responsibilities include direct patient care in CVICU, 1:1 ratios, 3x12 night shifts, 2 weekends per month, and floating per policy; travel experience is required. Cerner charting is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience in CVICU/ICU.
• Travel experience required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Experience with multisystem organ dysfunction care.
• CABG/Impella/post-op care and invasive monitoring preferred.
• Ventilated patient care and ABG interpretation required.
• Floating and shift flexibility per facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in CVICU (potentially plus Medical ICU).
• Maintain 1:1 nurse patient ratios in CVICU and 1:2-3 in ICU as needed.
• Work night shifts 3x12-hour schedule (19:00–07:30).
• Work 2 weekends per month or every other weekend.
• Floating to units with appropriate orientation per Joint Commission standards.
• Document and chart using Cerner.
• Support post-surgical and critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring travel experience and TN or compact RN licensure

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Travel experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
• Experience with IABP, post cardiac surgery care, and Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring required
• IV therapy, arterial line, and central line management experience required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and managing continuous IV sedation required
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT) required
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• Must pass an EKG test
• Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of the start date
• Experience with CABG, Impella, post cardiac surgery directly from OR, and valve repair/replacement preferred
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal preferred
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and ICP monitoring preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with potential coverage of Medical ICU patients
• Patient ratios of 1:1 (CVICU) and 1:2-3 (ICU)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Required to work 2 weekends per month or every other weekend
• Floating required in accordance with facility policies and clinical experience
• Cerner charting experience preferred but not required
• Provide direct patient care for cardiovascular ICU patients, including post-surgical and critically ill cases requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
• Floating assignments will include appropriate orientation to the new unit in compliance with Joint Commission standards
• Holiday RTO requests will not be accommodated during designated holiday periods including Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• RTO requests may be addressed with the unit manager after arrival onsite using the facility RTO form
• Local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility at a reduced rate
• Previous permanent staff may not return to the same campus within 24 months but may return to another Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Related or married travel team members cannot be assigned to the same unit
